Start Voting for Your Favorite Open Source CMS

Packt has announced to open voting for the 2008 Open Source CMS Award. The awards, now in their third year, are sponsored byPackt Publishing, and are designed to encourage, support, recognize and reward popularity and quality in the many open source content management systems available, claimed Packt.

The first stage of the Award is a call for nominations, which enables fans to nominate their favorite Open Source CMS. The five Content Management System's that receive the most nominations in each category will go through to the final stage of voting, which starts at the beginning of September.

In addition to carrying over the same categories from last year ie Overall Winner, Most Promising Open Source CMS, Best Open Source PHP CMS and Best Other Open Source CMS, a new category has been added - the 2008 Open Source CMS MVP Award. Overall Winners take home a cash prize of USD 5,000, whereas winners of the remaining categories get USD 2,000 each.
