ILOG has unveiled ILOG JRules 5.1 with dual-platform support. ILOG JRules 5.1, a key offering in ILOG's business rule management system (BRMS) product line, makes it possible for business and IT professionals to collaborate on business rule development, execution and management and deploy on either Java or .NET platforms. The announcement was made at the JavaOne Developers Conference 2005, which was held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco from June 27 to 29, 2005.
Today many Global 2000 corporate IT departments have both .NET and Java environments, driving the need for a BRMS to support both groups of developers. ILOG has responded to this demand with ILOG JRules 5.1, which allows these developers to deploy business rules stored in the JRules Rule Repository on both the Java platform using the native Java Rule Engine; or the Microsoft platform and .NET framework by using the native .NET Rule Engine. ILOG JRules users will also be able to deploy identical rules to both Java and .NET applications for example, deploying the rules to a Java middle-tier on a J2EE server with a .NET client on Windows, facilitating cross platform rule sharing.
In addition to cross-platform support, other key new features in ILOG JRules 5.1 include enhancements to ILOG's Business Rule Execution Server that allow developers to leverage either Java 2 Standard Edition or Java 2 Enterprise Edition using the same API, providing a continuous development path from prototype to production and creating a faster time to market. In addition, the ILOG Business Rule Execution Server adds support for IBM Websphere 6.0, the latest version of IBM's application server platform, and the leading application servers from BEA, JBoss, ObjectWeb, and Apache Tomcat. As is the case with each new release of JRules, 5.1 features additional performance and scalability improvements for customers deploying the Business Rule Execution Server.
ILOG JRules 5.1 also includes ILOG Business Rule Studio 2.1 which is certified by IBM as "Ready for Rational Software" making it possible to author, execute and debug rules from within IBM's Rational Application Developer 6 (RAD6) and Rational Software Architect 6 (RSA6). Products validated as Ready for IBM Rational software follow best practices specified by IBM, and are assured smooth integration with the Software Development Platform. ILOG Business Rule Studio 2.1 also integrates in Eclipse 3, which is the most widely used Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for Java developers.
ILOG JRules 5.1 is available immediately.
