Music company EMI Group has signed a deal with Microsoft to provide preloaded music videos on Microsoft’s to be launched media player Zune. Under the terms of the deal, American actor Jared Leto's alternative rock band 30 Seconds To Mars and English electro-pop band Hot Chip, would be featured on the player when it goes to market later this year.
It is believed that content from other labels would also be preloaded on Zune. Universal is in discussion with Microsoft regarding the player.
The launch of Microsoft Zune is considered to a potential threat to Apple’s ipod, which occupies 75 percent of the market currently.
Microsoft Zune 30GB will cost USD 399. For the same amount of money Apple sells iPod 60GB, whereas iPod 30GB costs USD 299.
