Qualcomm Inc. has appointed Jing Wang to senior vice president and chairman of Asia Pacific operations. Wang, currently an executive for its Greater China Unit replaces Ted Matsumoto, who is leaving Qualcomm to join Softbank Mobile as an executive vice president and chief strategy officer.
In his new role, Wang will assume management responsibilities for the Southeast Asia and Pacific regions, overseeing strategic initiatives and providing strategic direction for the company’s APAC operations.
The company said Wang would form and lead an Asia Pacific Strategy Committee within Qualcomm global business development organisation in order to support the acceleration of 3G CDMA take-up across the region.
Prior to joining Qualcomm in 2001, Wang served as head of the Asia Practice Group for more than 12 years at Reed Smith, LLP.
