Oracle has announced that the growth rate of Indian enterprises adopting grid computing is faster than that of enterprises in the U.S., Europe and the Asia Pacific. According to Oracle’s Grid Index IV report, India witnessed one of the sharpest increase of 86 percent in the grid adoption index globally.
The report revealed that the adoption rate implies the readiness and maturity of Indian enterprises to invest in more efficient IT infrastructure and commercial grid computing.
Satinder Grover, Vice President - Sales, Oracle India said, "Indian organisations have become part of a complex global supply chain. Their profitability depends on innovative use of information technology."
The research was carried out for Oracle by Quocirca, an independent European firm. Over 1000 organisations around the world were polled on their knowledge of, attitude towards and adoption of Grid Computing. Respondents within each organisation were senior decision makers working in lines of business or in the IT function. Numeric data derived from the answers gave a single number from zero to ten, the Oracle Grid Index.
Grover said that the research also revealed that grid computing continued to be a maturing technology and highlighted the rise of SOA in maximising the business benefits of IT. He said Indian companies are ready to move to SAO. The Index Report also revealed that Indian enterprises were actively moving closer to or had already moved to an SOA infrastructure.
