Oracle Buys Intellectual Property Assests of Sigma Dynamics
Oracle has announced that it will enhance its Oracle Business Intelligence Suite and Oracle Fusion Middleware offerings by acquiring the intellectual property assets of Sigma Dynamics.
"With the combination of Oracle and Sigma Dynamics' technology, businesses will benefit from improved profitability of customer interactions, and more intelligent business processes through automated decision points," said Oracle Vice President of Product Management, Paul Rodwick. "The combined solution integrates with CRM, ERP and legacy systems to allow organizations to continuously adapt business processes and to leverage real-time learning to deliver the next best action for each customer, resulting in increased cross-sell and up-sell opportunities, customer retention, and customer satisfaction."
The purchase would allow the company to boost its Oracle Business Intelligence Suite and Oracle Fusion Middleware offerings. Oracle did not disclose the financial terms of the deal.
Analysts at Banc of America Securities reinitiated coverage of Oracle with a 'buy' rating. The target price was set to USD 18. In a research note, the analysts mentioned that the company is poised to benefit from a wider product portfolio, following its recent high-profile takeovers. Oracle’s organic growth is likely to accelerate from FY07/FY08 onwards, boosted by the company’s foray into areas such as middleware and business intelligence, the analysts said. Although Oracle’s share price is expected to remain range bound till September, it would respond to acceleration in the company’s organic growth, given robust cash flows and recurring revenues, Banc of America Securities added.
