Hewlett Packard has announced the launch of its latest Global Delivery Centre at the Olympia Technology Park in Guindy, Chennai. The new three-lakh square-feet facility is HP’s second centre in Chennai. It has recruited about 700 people, including 300 through campus selection, for the facility. HP expects to scale up its headcount to about 5,000 in the next two years in Chennai. It already employs around 2,000 people at its business process-outsourcing unit in the city.
Som Mittal, managing director and chief executive officer of HP Global Soft and worldwide head of application services delivery said in a statement that this center was strategic for HP operations, and that it would be service the company’s Fortune 50 clients. "Setting up an HP facility in Chennai is a confluence of synergy and purpose. Chennai is well known for its good infrastructure, best-in-class talent and work ethos and the state houses some of the country's best educational institutions."
