Zend has unveiled an updated version of the Zend Core for Oracle, a pre-built stack for PHP developers that makes it easier for them to develop and deploy applications on a robust, scalable and reliable infrastructure. According to Zend, more than 5,000 developers have started using Zend Core for Oracle since its introduction in October, 2005.
The new release is validated with Oracle Database 10g Release 2, including the Oracle Database 10g Express Edition (Oracle Database XE), and is available as a free download from the Zend web site https://www.zend.com/core_oracle/. In addition to validation of Oracle Database 10g Release 2, the update to Zend Core for Oracle has enhanced support for Oracle Procedural Language for SQL (PL/SQL) collection types, giving significantly improved performance. Developers can access PL/SQL directly from PHP in a single, fully integrated environment.
“Oracle Database XE delivers a free, entry-level database with all of the enterprise-level functionality that PHP developers need to develop robust and scalable applications,” said Monica Kumar, director of product marketing, Oracle.
Support and updates for Zend Core for Oracle will be made available directly from Zend.
