CA's New eTrust SCM r8 Packs Several Punches in One
CA has lifted the lid off a new version of eTrust Secure Content Manager (eTrust SCM), a single, unified gateway solution that the company claims can help secure enterprise content and safeguard enterprises from data confidentiality breaches, as well as inbound and outbound email threats, from a centrally managed console. A key component of CA's integrated threat management portfolio, eTrust SCM is expected to enable enterprises to better comply with government regulations and laws and enforce effective corporate email policies.
According to IDC's report "Market Analysis: Worldwide Secure Content Management 2005-2009 Forecast Update," the convenience and efficiency of email have been dramatically reduced by the extremely rapid growth in the volume of unsolicited commercial email. Major virus and worm outbreaks, continued increases in spam, corporate deadlines for compliance with government and industry regulations and the explosive growth in spyware are fueling the need for SCM security solutions.
eTrust SCM r8 secures, monitors, filters and blocks potential threats from messaging and Web traffic. It guards against viruses, spam, phishing, P2P file sharing, malicious mobile code and spyware. It also helps prevent against outbound transmission of confidential information and proprietary intellectual property.
eTrust SCM r8 includes four new anti-spam engines that prevent spam using DNS blacklists, heuristic filtering, Bayesian analysis, digital signatures and collaborative filtering. For every new message, the spam identification engines utilize more than 300,000 algorithms and rules to identify spam with a near-zero false positive rate. Enhanced layers of spam filtering include sender "reputation," embedded URL filtering, malformed email detection and an evasion techniques dictionary.
"Enterprises today are struggling to control the distribution of sensitive information in email, Word documents, PDFs and other forms," said Anthony Ung, Business Development Manager - Security, CA. "By acting as a highly automated and intelligent guardian, eTrust SCM r8 protects customers from diverse and potentially overwhelming threats with optimum effectiveness and efficiency."
Pricing for eTrust SCM r8, part of CA's integrated Threat Management solutions, starts at USD 50/node MSRP (U.S.). eTrust SCM r8 is available in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese and Korean through authorized partners.
