Cellphone maker Motorola Inc. has announced that it plans to announce a manufacturing presence in India soon.
"We are on track for a manufacturing presence in India. An announcement is imminent," Stu Reed, executive vice president for integrated supply chain operations at Motorola, told a news briefing.
The manufacturing capability in India would be involved in both devices and manufacturing, Stu Reed said.
Motorola has also announced that it would invest USD 60 million to expand its global supply chain operations in Singapore, over the next two years.
Motorola is also aggressively marketing in India, battling against its rivals to gain the largest and largest growing market. In an effort to woo the Indian customers, the company has signed Abhishek Bachchan as its brand ambassador for the continent.
