Tibco Software Inc., has reported a higher second-quarter earnings on increase of revenue license by 26 percent, topping Wall Street expectations. Net income for the quarter rose to USD 24.5 million, or 11 cents a share, from USD 21.7 million, or 10 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue increased to USD 121.2 million from USD 101.4 million.
Excluding items such as USD 3.7 million in stock-based compensation expense, the company posted a profit of USD 16.9 million, or 8 cents per share. Analysts on average were expecting the company to post earnings of 6 cents a share on revenue of USD 117.9 million.
The company said revenue growth was mainly helped by particular strength in Asia Pacific, which turned in a 59 percent jump in growth.
License revenue increased to USD 52.5 million from USD 41.8 million for the quarter while service and maintenance revenue rose to USD 68.7 million from USD 59.6 million.
For the upcoming third quarter, Tibco expects revenue ranging from USD 118 million to USD122 million with earnings of 6 cents a share.
