Software services exporter Infosys Technologies Ltd. has reported higher first-quarter earnings of 8 billion rupees compared with 5.32 billion a year ago. Sales rose 46 percent to 30.15 billion rupees.
Infosys expects second-quarter earnings per share to increase to between 29.47 rupees and 29.78 rupees, and sales to rise to between 32.57 billion rupees and 32.80 billion rupees.
The company raised revenue forecast for the full year to 133.5-134 billion rupees, from 122.54-124.46 billion rupees it forecast three months ago.
Infosys Chairman N.R. Narayana Murthy will retire on Aug. 20, but will remain on the board as non-executive chairman and chief mentor, the company said in a statement.
Infosys has roughly doubled its revenues over the past two business years to more than USD 2 billion.
