Network Appliance has announced that the NetApp FAS250 iSCSI storage array has achieved the Microsoft Simple SAN for Windows Server Component designation for the Storage Array category.
NetApp provides iSCSI and Fibre Channel storage array solutions for Windows environments that increase data accessibility and availability for Windows environments.
The NetApp FAS250 system is an economical, enterprise-class storage solution. Based on an innovative hardware design that shrinks the traditional storage controller to a form factor that fits within a single storage shelf, the FAS250 provides all of the software functionality enabled by Data ONTAP and is completely compatible with, and upgradeable to, the full range of NetApp systems.
When used in conjunction with NetApp data manageability software, the NetApp FAS250 storage array supports several Microsoft storage technologies, including its iSCSI Software Initiator, Microsoft Multipath I/O (MPIO), Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS), and Virtual Disk Service (VDS) 1.1.
The NetApp FAS250 iSCSI storage system also leverages NetApp RAID-DP and FlexVol storage technologies, which dramatically increase storage system uptime and utilization and thereby drive down storage costs in Windows environments.
The NetApp FAS250 iSCSI storage array is the first NetApp storage array to receive a Microsoft Simple SAN for Windows Server Component designation.
