Permabit, a provider of compliance, archive and tiered storage solutions, has entered into a partnership agreement with CaminoSoft Corp., a provider of Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) solutions for Microsoft Windows 2000/2003, Novell NetWare and Network Appliance Inc. (NetApp) environments. CaminoSoft’s Premier Channel Partner Program will enable Permabit and CaminoSoft to provide organisations with a complete solution for setting information storage policy and managing information retention throughout its stored life, the companies said.

Faced with an increasingly complicated information storage ecosystem, organisations are looking for management systems that make information retention less resource intensive, Permabit of Cambridge, Massachusetts said. The integration of Permabit’s solution for tiered storage with CaminoSoft’s effective ILM tools is a direct response to that need, the company said. Permabit and CaminoSoft make it easy to set information policy and execute on those rules, Permabit added.

The volume of information being created and stored is increasing exponentially each year, leaving organisations in a position where they need a comprehensive set of tools to manage their file and storage systems’ growth, CaminoSoft of Westlake Village, California said. The combination of CaminoSoft’s Managed Server HSM solutions and Permabit’s tiered storage management platform is an important evolution in information management, which brings file policy administration and the information repository into alignment with each other, the company said.

CaminoSoft's Managed Server HSM software provides organisations with the ability to set data migration and retention policies, define the terms and conditions under which information is moved across multiple storage tiers to lower-cost and archival storage pools, and reclaim production storage for active files, the companies said. Using this centrally administered application, organisations can establish policies to take maximum advantage of Permabit’s tiered storage, archiving and compliance solutions, the companies said. Permabit enables IT organisations to store more information using their existing storage resources, while maintaining service levels and responding to increasing business requirements, they said.
