Permabit, a provider of tiered storage solutions, has joined the Acopia FreedomFabric Alliance Program. Through this partnership, the companies will work toward a complete, tested solution for managing and storing information using efficient tiered storage that lowers the cost and increases the flexibility of information storage.
"Organisations are faced with an unprecedented volume of information that must be stored and retrieved over increasingly extended periods of time," said Wayne Salpietro, director of marketing for Permabit. "We envision that Permabit's tiered storage solution paired with Acopia's advanced management tools will be able to relieve that pressure, fully automating the ability to maximise storage usage."
"We are delighted to add Permabit to our premier Acopia FreedomFabric Alliance roster of technology providers who share our desire to help customers meet the mounting challenges surrounding the storage and management of unstructured, globally-distributed file-based information," said Kirby Wadsworth, senior vice president of marketing and business development, Acopia. "Permabit's participation in Acopia's Freedom Lab demonstrates to customers that they, together with Acopia, are striving to deliver fully interoperable solutions that are easy to deploy, effective, and deliver the greatest return on investment."
Acopia's ARX intelligent file virtualisation devices match business needs with storage capability. Administrators will be able to use Acopia's products to aggregate storage systems with common user-defined attributes into an arbitrary number of Permabit secured storage tiers. As Acopia devices direct information to the appropriate storage tier and move it between storage tiers, Permabit's tiered storage system has the ability to provide maximum data availability and rock-solid information protection throughout the information's lifespan.
