Panasonic Unveils IP Based Office Communication Systems

For addressing the communication needs of various verticals including business process outsourcing firms (BPOs), call centers, and other enterprise segment, Panasonic has announced two major products.

Panasonic has launched its Internet protocol (IP)-based office communication systems called the Panasonic KX-TDE series of full-IP PBXs, IP phones and network cameras. Network cameras, a brand of Japan-based Matsushita Electric Industrial can be connected to IP network (Internet or Intranet) and controlled remotely for monitoring or surveillance of a site regardless of time and distance.

According to Mr. Ashish Dhole, Business Head (PBX), “since the Indian customers consider jet black colour as inauspicious and also it is prone to absorb dust, KX-TDE series of phones will be available in two basic colours, the traditional white Panasonic and greyish black.”

While addressing the media, Gary Gay, Panasonic’s Product Category Owner for SAARC countries, Singapore, Indonesia and Vietnam, said company’s new IP-based office communication systems were specially tailored for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). These products could be easily scaled up to suit the requirements of other enterprises as well.

“Globally offices are shifting from traditional telecom systems to low-cost, flexible IP systems that take full advantage of rapid growth in IP applications. However, it is difficult to switch an existing traditional telecom line to a Full-IP system all at once due to time and cost restrictions. Empowered with latest SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) technology, Panasonic KX-TDE IP PBXs embrace Full-IP telephony and offer an easy migration path. Even the SMEs that do not have the requisite infrastructure and the know-how can make the most of this solution,” he further added.

The company boasts the simplicity and easy maintenance of it’s newly released KX-TDE series. Any mobile phone brand can be integrated with the KX-TDE series and there is an added voice mail feature that acts an answering machine.

The new basic unit of IP phone comes with a customized price tag of Rs 12,000. Indian PBX division’s revenue has grown from 60 crores during the last fiscal year to an expected turnover of about 95 crores this year. The overall size of the PBX market in India is about 13 billion.
