Sony Re-enters DSLR Market with Its Alpha 700

Japanese electronics giant Sony, has introduced its Alpha 700 almost after a year of the launch of Alpha 100 which was the first of the Alpha series.

The Alpha 700, Sony's second SLR (single-lens reflex) digital camera, is an average model and is an advanced version of Alpha 100 introduced in July 2006.

Sony re-entered the digital camera market this year after it acquired Konica Minolta, the Japanese digital camera maker firm.

Konica Minolta, once a pioneer in photography was in high financial losses last year. Sony took over their SLR digital-camera section. This gave Sony good information on lens and DSLR. It is believed that Sony gained a lot of innovative technology that is still not released in the market.

The Alpha 700 features a 12-megapixel CMOS sensor, 5 frames per second continuous shooting and 11-point AF along with HDMI output and a 921,000-pixel 3-inch LCD.

Though the Sony Alpha DSLR A700 is an average model, it stands at par with the new collection of Canon and Nikon DSLR cameras.

Sony will introduce its Alpha 700 SLR digital camera on November 9, one week earlier than its released date. This was because of favourable reviews from retailers and consumers at hands-on exhibitions.
