Corel Corporation, a developer of graphics, productivity and digital media software, has unveiled the newest version of its graphics suite, CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4. With more than 50 new features, CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4 provides users with the tools, resources to tackle a wide variety of projects - from logos and Web graphics, to multi-page brochures, to high impact signage and digital displays.
New facilities include a Live text formatting option, which allows users to preview text formatting options before applying them to a document. The X4 suite integrates with WhatTheFont, an online font identification service from MyFonts.com. It lets users identifying the font used in existing bitmap designs, artwork or other images received from clients.
In CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4, users can control and edit layers independently for each page of a document. They can add independent guidelines for individual pages, and master guidelines for entire documents giving the flexibility to create layers on a page-specific basis. A new interactive table has also been included to let users create and import tables to provide layout for text and graphics. Users can align, resize, or edit tables and table cells to suit their designs.
Windows Vista integration has also been added including integration with the platform's search facilities allowing Corel users to look for files by author, subject, file type, date, keywords, or other file properties.
Corel's new graphics suite has the new CorelDRAW ConceptShare docker, which integrates a valuable online collaboration tool directly within user work-flow. ConceptShare lets users share their designs and ideas with colleagues or clients in real time.
Additional file support is another key update and the package now supports Microsoft Office Publisher, Microsoft Word 2007, Adobe Illustrator Creative Suite 3, Adobe Photoshop CS3, PDF 1.7 (Adobe Acrobat 8), AutoCAD DXF and AutoCAD DWG, and Corel Painter X.
The newbie graphics suite includes 80 professionally designed and customizable templates, giving users a springboard to the design process. Besides, it has a selection of new fonts to help users ensure their output is optimized for intended audiences. A new Welcome screen provides users with a centralized location to access recently used documents, templates, and learning tools, including tips and tricks, and video tutorials.
For Corel PHOTO-PAINT, which is part of the suite, Corel has added RAW camera file support, a new straighten image tool, enhanced tone curve adjustments, and an integrated histogram. The CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4 includes CorelDRAW X4, Corel PHOTO-PAINT X4, Corel PowerTRACE X4 (for converting bitmaps into editable vector graphics), Corel CAPTURE X4 the one-click screen-capture utility, and the CorelDRAW Handbook.
CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4 also includes two hours of training videos on the DVD.
The latest version of the suite will be available from February 2008 and has been priced at Rs. 16,400 for the full version, Rs. 8,900 for the upgrade and Rs. 6,200 for the Student and Teacher Edition.
