Pentax Introduces Yet Another Digicam in India

Pentax has announced the launch of its 8 megapixel digital camera Optio Z10 in India. Pentax will offer the model to Indian consumers in partnership with India Digital Life Style Distributors (IDLDPL).

The 8 megapixel camera comes with high resolution 230,000 pixels 2.5-inches LCD monitor, and a wide viewing angle of 170 degrees from all directions. It also features 7x optical zoom lens, shake reduction and face recognition that can detect the faces of up to 15 people at one time with a detection time of 0.03 seconds.

The 7X optical zoom lens can cover focal lengths from 6.3 to 44.1mm (equivalent to 38-266mm for 35mm format) and features a refraction lens system, making the lens not protrude from the camera while zooming.

According to Pentax, this optical zoom covers a broad range from wide-angle to telephoto, and offers ultra-high magnification of up to approximately 35.7x when combined with digital zoom.

"The Optio Z10 8MP Digital Camera is very sleek and delivers the finest picture quality one desire for. We are really proud to be associated with Pentax brand and our efforts will be to push this product aggressively in the Indian market and garner very good market share," said Surinder Saini, Assistant-VP, Sales, IDLDPL.

The compact and light-weight digital camera supports SD memory cards and SDHC memory cards and incorporates an internal memory of 52 MB.

Pentax Optio Z10's Auto Picture mode lets the camera automatically determine the best setting for shooting conditions such as Landscape, Portrait, Night Scene, and Normal modes and chooses the optimal settings for each subject.

It also features FotoNation red-eye compensation function for flash shots, ACDsee for PENTAX 3.0 image viewer/image management software that supports Windows Vista and supports PictBridge, DPOF functions, Eixf Print, and PRINT Image Matching III.

Available exclusively from IDLDPL, the Pentax Optio Z10 is priced at Rs 20,990 in the Indian Market.
