Hosting Demand Spurs as SaaS Gains Popularity, says Microsoft
Microsoft has announced that it has seen a spurring strong demand for service providers for Microsoft hosting solutions, driven by the advancement of the software as a service (SaaS) application delivery model.
Microsoft said the hosting solution has seen the popularity of its solutions in the Web server industry grow dramatically in the past year, driven by new customer deployments by such hosting providers as Intergenia AG in Germany and Portal Tone in South Korea.
The company said emphasis on fosuccuing on expanding its partner ecosystem, working with companies like NaviSite Inc. and OpSource Inc. have to develop incubation centers to assist independent software vendors (ISVs) in creating software as a service-enabled application.
Microsoft said software companies SWsoft Inc., SMBLive Corp. and WebHost Automation Ltd. have also created new hosting applications for the Windows platform that enable service providers to offer more choices to their customers.
The growth in broadband penetration rate, decreasing hardware costs and high availability of service has made SaaS application more of a reality, with hosting providers poised to act as a primary delivery channel to consumers, small businesses and large enterprises, the company said.
Microsoft has aligned its hosting group to enable service providers to capitalise on the changing market dynamics brought about by the SaaS model and to derive new revenue streams. Microsoft, through three solutions Solution for Hosted Messaging and Collaboration, Solution for Windows-based Hosting Version 4.0, and the Solution for Windows-based Hosting for Applications provides the platform, tools and guidance necessary for service providers to develop and deploy SaaS-enabled applications and manage increasingly complex infrastructure.
