Fujitsu Siemens Stops Selling PDA, GPS Gadgets

Current Issue

Japanese German electronics conglomerate FujitsuSiemens has decided to put an end to its PDA and GPS business. The firm said it will stop manufacturing all PDA and GPS machines to concentrate on notebooks and tablets—its core strength.

At present, Fujitsu Siemens offers a range of handheld devices under its Pocket Loox brand, the line-up divided into traditional PDAs with integrated GPS and Wi-Fi, and Blackberry-style devices with integrated phones and email-friendly micro-keyboards.

Fujitsu Siemens said the reason for discontinuing the manufacture of PDAs was because there was a decline in the demand demand for PDAs globally. Fujitsu Siemens said new smartphones would deliver all the functionality once provided solely by wireless handheld devices.

Now Fujitsu Siemens instead wants to concentrate on its core strengths- laptops.
