Antitrust Charge Against Intel In Korea
South Korea has pulled Intel for violating Korean anti trust laws, Intel and company lawyers informed yesterday.
Although it is not known as to what antitrust case was registered against Intel, South Korean business papers said the charges related to Intel forcing computer makers to use their microprocessors and dump its rival AMD. The Korean Fair Trade Commission said it has completed a two-year probe into Intel's activities in the country and it will reach a decision on the penalty sometime next month.
South Korean regulators are now contemplating action against Intel, which is the world’s top computer chip maker. Intel is also facing anti-trust charges in Europe.
Its rival AMD and American Antitrust Institute have also issued antitrust lawsuit in June for its anticompetitive practices.
Intel has denied acting anti-competitively and has said its actions benefit computer buyers.
