NTT DoCoMo, Acca To Provide New Wireless Technology
Japan’s mobile operator, NTT DoCoMo and ADSL provider, Acca Networks, which earlier set-up a WiMax joint venture called Acca Wireless, have enlisted five Internet providers for an alliance to bid for a WiMax licence.
The venture will launch ultra high-speed wireless Internet access. It will also seek next-generation wireless broadband service licenses to be issued by the government.
The Japanese government plans to allocate 2.5 GHz band frequencies to both the companies.
The four other Internet service providers of the alliance are NEC Biglobe, So-net Entertainment, FreeBit and Asahi Net.
