Nokia N810: The Mean Machine
Mobile communications company Nokia has announced that the new Nokia N810 Internet Tablet has begun shipping nationwide in the US.
The company said that the Nokia N810 is a portable computer, having features of a large colour display, touchpad screen, slide-out keyboard, 400 MHz processor, Mozilla-based browser and up to 10GB of memory. It also includes Wi-Fi capability for VoIP calling.
The device also features up to 45 hours of music playback, storage for up to 7,500 songs, built-in GPS and free maps preloaded for detailed locations.
The Nokia N810 is powered by maemo Linux-based OS2008, featuring a highly customizable user interface and contains Mozilla based browser with Ajax and Adobe flash 9, Blue tooth headset support, as well as enhanced video and audio features.
“More than ever, people want to bring their online communities with them wherever they go--whether it’s on vacation, a business trip, or just around their neighborhood -- and the pocketable Nokia N810 Internet Tablet lets consumers do just this,” said Bill Plummer, Vice President, Multimedia, Nokia North America.
This Internet tablet PC only weighs about 8 ounces and is only 5 inches wide. The small size of an Internet tablet, such as the Nokia N810, make them a better choice for traveling professionals who don’t want to lug a laptop around on business trips.
“As consumer demand increases for new multimedia experiences, Nokia is taking the leadership position to create new devices that meet this demand and maximize the experience for the user,” said Plummer.
The Nokia N810 is available at a suggested retail price of USD 479 at consumer electronics and wireless retailers, and also at the Nokia Flagship stores in Chicago and New York, and a number of online retailers.
