Nokia has recently announced that Russian mobile operator MegaFon will provide a mobile email service based on Nokia’s Intellisync Wireless Email solution.
Termed as MegaSync, the hosted service will offer mobile email, improved attachment handling, calendar, contacts and task synchronization to MegaFon’s customers.
Nokia Intellisync Wireless Email is part of Nokia Intellisync Mobile Suite that provides access to powerful collaboration tools such as email, contacts, calendar, device management and synchronization of file and data and enterprise applications.
Petr M. Prokofiev, Project Manager, New technologies and Projects Department, MegaFon stated, “We were looking for a highly flexible solution that would also allow us in future to offer mobile email to large companies that want to implement the solution behind the firewall.”
Apart from the Nokia Eseries range, Nokia Intellisync Wireless Email supports more than 100 different devices, both smartphones and basic entry phones. “We will offer the service on Nokia E90 Communicator and Nokia E61i business devices, but compatibility of the solution with other vendors’ devices was paramount, as we want to offer as much flexibility to our customers as possible,” said Prokofiev.
Last year, MegaFon attained a growth rate of 30 percent in its subscriber base and currently serves over 34 million people in Russia. “Nokia Intellisync Wireless Email offers MegaFon a highly scalable platform, allowing them to keep pace with the demands of its fast expanding customer base,” said Scott Cooper, senior vice president, Mobility Solutions, Enterprise Solutions, Nokia.
