N-Gage Gaming Service from Nokia Sees Delay Again

Current Issue

Nokia has again postponed the launch of its gaming service N-gage.

Nokia unveiled the gaming service in August and it initially planned to begin the service last month. However, in November, the company pushed it back for the first time due to software glitches. Now, the service was delayed once again for the beginning of the next year, said Kari Tuutti, a spokesperson for Nokia.

“It's a few weeks' postponement. We've identified one software element that needs to be fine-tuned,” said Tuutti.

The gaming service is expected to have a music shop and mapping services, and Nokia is banking heavily on this service to achieve its mobile Internet goals.

The company had signed up leading service providers like Vodafone, Telefonica and Telecom Italia, to take its product to the masses.

With this, the company has also pushed the launch of its digital music store to next year as well.

The digital music store from the company has run into troubles as Warner music has been withholding content from Nokia in its digital music store in Britain.

Nokia had also, in December, debuted the "Come With Music" program, which enables customers to purchase a handset with the offer of unlimited access to millions of songs for a year.

The mobile giant has rolled out new music phones and is on the lookout for selling more services to face competition from Apple Inc.'s iPhone.
