Cheap And Classy, Remain Nokia’s Mantra

The Finnish mobile giant Nokia has unveiled four new handsets at the "Growing Together 2008" conference that have been specially designed to let customers in developing markets say good bye to their old phones and replace them with the newly launched ones.

The four new handsets, expected to be priced between Euro 50 and Euro 90 include: the Nokia 5000 with a 1.3 mega pixels camera, which is claimed to be Nokia's first camera phone at this price point; Nokia 2680 Slide; Nokia 7070 Prism; and Nokia 1680 Classic.

The new Nokia 5000 features a 1.3 mega pixels camera, high-resolution QVGA display, FM radio together with recording facility and MP3 ring tones. It is best for professional persons as well as those, who’re in traveling jobs. It supports email and other benefits such as Nokia Xpress Audio Messaging, Bluetooth, and GPRS connectivity. It is likely to begin shipping in the second quarter of 2008.

Nokia 2680 is Nokia’s first slide model targeted at developing markets and is a camera phone with FM radio with recording functionality. Retailing at Euro 75, Nokia 2680 will begin shipping in the third quarter of 2008.

The Nokia 7070 Prism is the typical 'Prism' type phone with geometric patterns and external light effects on its external body. It is a complete fashion-oriented clamshell phone available in black and pink for the ladies. The phone is surprisingly going to be priced at a rock bottom price of Euros 50. This is great pricing from Nokia and definitely makes them one of the cheapest phone manufacturers in the world. The phone is due for a launch in the third quarter of 2008.

And the last of the series, Nokia 1680 Classic is claimed as Nokia's most affordable camera phone till date. Expected to be priced at Euro 50, the Nokia 1680 Classic offers essential mobile phone functionality along with the added benefit of a basic digital VGA camera. It features video recording and one-touch access for photos and videos. Being a basic phone, it offers phone-sharing functionality and easy access to email. The phone is expected to begin shipping in the second quarter of 2008.
