Alibaba, a Chinese e-commerce website company, has joined forces with Intel (INTC) to launch a special kind of computer to meet the e-commerce demand of small and medium enterprises in China.

The computer will be equipped with Alibaba.com software to assist enterprises in online trading and ensure security in trading. The two firms are reported to collaborate in other fields such as technology development and online trading education to expanding e-commerce.

Alibaba has been promising its services for SMEs in Asia, especially the company last month has inked a deal with Infomedia India Limited, India's largest Yellow Pages and special interest publishing company to benefit small and medium-size enterprises in India.

The joint venture aims to combine the power of traditional print publishing with online media and e-commerce, thereby providing Indian SMEs with a world-class solution for global and domestic trade.

Together they will create an online community of Indian business people and provide them with a single cost-effective channel to promote their products and source from quality suppliers in India and around the world. It will also provide SMEs in India with the latest industry news and technical developments in multi-media formats.

Managing Director, Infomedia, Prakash Iyer , said “the Infomedia-Alibaba.com partnership will bring value to Indian SMEs by giving them a larger, multi-media business platform encompassing domestic and global trade services.”

According to the company release India has more than 8 million SMEs, which account for almost 40 per cent of India's industrial output and employ around 30 million people. It is estimated that 3 million SMEs are engaged in B2B trade and around 1 million are in the export business. Alibaba.com has more than 400,000 members in India, already making it one of the country's largest B2B online marketplaces by member count.

Considering the Alibaba.com and Infomedia tie-up it is speculated that it will help bridge two of the world's fastest growing economies and also promote trade between them.
