Lenovo has introduced its IdeaPad U110 consumer notebook PC in the Indian computer market. The notebook is part of a new brand that the Chinese computer maker had introduced earlier in March this year, with its IdeaPad notebooks and IdeaCentre desktops complement the ThinkPad notebooks and ThinkCentre desktops respectively.
The Lenovo IdeaPad U110 sports a tendril pattern that is etched into its aluminum lid and has patterned vents on its base. These two factors reminisce one of an illuminated manuscript or a fine textile. In addition, it flaunts a novel piano finish on the keyboard. The 11-inch wide notebook has a frameless screen rendering it a weight of only 1.05 kg (excluding battery). It is around 18.4mm thick and has an LED screen that gives a brighter display.
Features-wise, the notebook includes a 120GB hard drive, up to 3GB memory, Intel Centrino processing technology, a built-in camera, WLAN, Ethernet, and Bluetooth connectivity (for select models only), an external DVD burner, and Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium operating system (OS). The notebook comes with an additional battery for up to eight hours of battery life.
Lenovo's Active Protection System provides durability by temporarily parking the hard drive in case the notebook should fall. With VeriFace face recognition technology, users can log in easily without having to remember passwords. Add Dolby Home Theater and Multimedia Control Center, and the U110 promises superior sound quality.
The IdeaPad U110 was the recipient of three 'best-of-show' awards at the 2008 Consumer Electronics Show, because of which Lenovo calls it the ‘star’ of its IdeaPad entertainment and stylish notebook series.
Carrying a price tag of Rs 98,000 in India, the Lenovo IdeaPad U110 notebook that comes with a choice red and black can be purchased via any of the Lenovo authorized stores.
