Pune To Be Wirefree Soon
Pune has surpassed other cities including Bangalore and Hyderabad to become the first city in India to possess wireless Internet network.
The project is dubbed ‘Unwiring Pune'. It is a joint venture between Intel and Pune Municipal Corporation. The initiative aims to provide residents of Pune to access the Internet wirelessly through their laptops and other handheld access devices.
Intel will partner with Chennai-based Microsense, to build the infrastructure needed to initiate the project. Intel will provide the design facilities while Microsense will be involved in network deployment. WiMAX will be the technology that will be used.
