HTC To Launch Qualcomm Chips Based Phones

Current Issue
Taiwan based High Tech Computer (HTC) has aligned with Qualcomm to launch handsets embedded with wireless chips from Qualcomm.

HTC, which is known for its popular HTC Touch mobile phone, said it would launch more than 10 new 3.5-generation (3.5G) models by the second half of this year using chips from Qualcomm, the inventor of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) wireless technology.

This deal, according to HTC, will help it win more a larger share of the fast growing advanced handset market. To commence with, HTC has launched two devices—MSM7500 and MSM7200—based on Qualcomm’s new dual core chipsets.

HTC founder Peter Chou said, "Since our partnership began in 1998, Qualcomm has committed to providing us with the most cutting-edge technology in the industry."

HTC has tied up with various operators in Asia and has started selling its popular ‘Touch’ mobile phones. Though the phone is different from iPhone, it is more or less similar to iPhone in feel and looks.
