Bank of Taiwan Deploys Blue Coat ProxySG Appliances

Current Issue
Blue Coat Systems, leader in WAN Application Delivery and Secure Web Gateway, announced that Bank of Taiwan has deployed Blue Coat ProxySG appliances to manage Web usage, accelerate content and applications, reduce bandwidth consumption and protect against Web viruses, malware and malicious code.

Blue Coat appliances provide visibility into the company's Internet access and enable Bank of Taiwan to enforce appropriate controls according to corporate policy, the type of content or application and the individual using it. Malicious content, such as spyware and Web viruses, can be stopped. Web applications, such as instant messaging (IM) and those using streaming media or peer-to-peer (P2P), can be controlled for bandwidth or acceptability, claimed Bluecoat. At the same time, acceptable Internet content and applications are accelerated through use of caching and pipelining so that they operate faster.

"Blue Coat appliances provide Bank of Taiwan with the ability to simultaneously protect, control and accelerate our Web communications and business applications," said an IT executive with Bank of Taiwan. "With Blue Coat, we can confidently utilize the Internet for business and to better serve our customers."
