Linux Top Smartphone OS By 2012



According to a new research, the use of Linux in Smartphones will grow at a faster pace than Microsoft windows and other smartphone operating system currently in use now.

Over the next five years, use of open-source operating systems in mobile phones will grow at a compound annual growth rate of more than 75 per cent, when it will account for nearly 31 per cent of all advanced mobile phones in the market, according to the ABI Research study. In terms of numbers, 331 million Linux phones will ship in 2012.

ABI said companies such as Intel would help in the growth of Linux in smartphones. The US based research agency also said that mobile phone operators will support Linux as a preferred operating system.
